Installed software on macbook pro

All Apple computer comes standard with iLife (includes iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb, GarageBand)
Is it a trial or is it installed and ready out-of-the-box?

Because the Genuine MacBook Pro I purchased last year also said it came with iLife and I could not use it fully. The computer told me to buy iLife saying that it isn't the full version!

Please help before I purchase another Macbook Pro!!

Thanks.

The iLife suite of software is pre-installed on the hard drive and should be fully functioning versions, at that time it would have been iLife '08 - iLife '09 would have to be purchased.

Are you sure you're not confusing it with the iWork suite which would be Trial versions ?

There is not and never has been a demo version of iLife, so I'm quite sure IVmichael is correct, bryan. iWork consists of Pages, Numbers and Keynote, and a demo version is installed on every new Mac. iLife includes iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, iDVD and GarageBand, and the full version is installed on every new Mac.

If you get a new Mac you may want to consider buying iWork. I love it and prefer it over the MS Office for Mac. It's much more intuitive to use than MS Office. It only costs $49 for a single user liscense - preinstalled if you buy online. I have a friend who bought a new MB at the Apple store and was able to get the same price. I think it generally retails for $89.
