Can't drop files on ftp-server

As a photographer I need to drop photographs on my customer's server. Usually I handle this on my pc. But my pc crashed and now I want to send my pictures via the Mac.
I logged in to my customer's server and try to drag pictures from my harddisk to the server (Finder). Then an error appears: " the server can't be changed" or something like that, and the transfer fails.
How can I reach my costumer's server? Please help. Thanks in advance.

I ran into this problem recently. The Finder's FTP server capability doesn't support write access:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TA21175

That article also mentions FTP client software that can be used to copy files to an FTP server. An additional one is Cyberduck.

FTP access from the Finder will only give you read access. Read/Write access is not a feature.

For full ftp access you need to use a 3rd party ftp client or the command line ftp client using your terminal.

See Article: TA21175 from the knowledge base.
Cannot Copy to FTP Servers in the Finder

I use Transmit from panic software which has many features and the ability to create 'droplets' these sit on your desktop and drop your files onto them and they automatically get uploaded to your ftp server.
