scanning problem

Please help with a seemingly RIDICULOUS problem. After I scan from a canon pixma 510 I get the picture but it doesn't go anywhere. I have set it to scan into my pictures folder-but nothing. I loaded a new driver-nothing. I am using Image capture. I have also lost my CD that came with it so please try not to tell me I need it....thanks.

Hello rathride, and a warm welcome to the forums! 🙂

Hmmm, try this first...

Not certain, but this can fix myriad problems...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then reboot when done.

If that doesn't help try a new folder.

When you use Image Capture, you will get a preview of the image - generally a full A4/LTR view of the flatbed. In order to complete the scan, you need to use your mouse to select an area of the document that you want scanned. Move your mouse to one corner of the image and then click and drag to the opposite corner. This will create a dotted border, much like a copied cell in Excel. Now when you click the Scan button, the image should appear in the nominated folder in the selected format.
