is screen guard foam cleaning spray safe for cleaning?

I saw a few people recommend the screen guard foam cleaning spray to clean their computer screens (product link provided below) becuase it's supposed to be non-water based so it shouldn't hurt your electronics. i did a little bit of research on the web, but i couldn't find nearly as much info on it as i would have liked.

does anyone know for sure that it is safe? if you have used it, i would love to hear your take on it.

Apple recommends using water and a microfiber cloth (you can find those in the painting section of home improvement stores, or in auto parts stores).

The product you link should be fine, as will any cleaner designed for LCD panels, but be sure to _spray the cloth, NOT the display._

Personally, I used pre-moistened LCD screen wipes from an office supply store.

Actually, water-based isn't an issue... you should not use anything that is ammonia based (such as Windex). I'm not familiar with the product in your link. Monster screen cleaner and iKlear are popular products. I use the Monster screen cleaner. You can find it at any Radio Shack and most electronics stores. Either are good choices. Never use a tissue or paper towel. Each of the products I mentioned come with proper cloths.

Here are a few ideas that might be helpful...

I make sure my computer is completely SHUT DOWN before I begin any cleaning process.

I always use the microfiber cloth I got for cleaning my camera lens and glasses. When using it on the display, I make sure it's clean, then I use very soft, circular strokes, as gently as possible, in small increments, all across the display. I take my sweet time.

When done, my Mac is brought back to life, and the display looks wonderfully clear.
