iphone 3G bluetooth can't pair with 2008 prius --

I tried the steps below:

On my prius: Go to Info -> Telephone -> Bluetooth -> Register -> Click on Register and the screen shows "it's connecting" (The previous screen shows the passkey 1111.)

On my iPhone 3G: Go to Settings -> General Settings -> Bluetooth ON mode -> tap to the discoverable screen and search for Prius Handsfree
- If I just powered off and on, it will find "Handsfree" but "Not Paired". After a while, it becomes "1 Not Paired". There were never a screen asking to input my prius Passkey.
- If the phone has tried to establish bluetooth connection, it will simply show "1 Not Paired". Similarly, there is no screen or keyboard showing up for me to input passkey.

Any help here? Thanks in advance.

Ditto for me, too.

Same thing happens with me as you described. I was, however, able to use another bluetooth cell phone with the '08 Prius with no problem. The experience of having the stereo automatically answer the phone is great! The voice communication is loud and clear with no noticeable delay or echo, with the other phone.

With the iPhone, the Prius/iPhone wont even sync up or acknowledge each other.

'08 Prius with Nav system and iPhone 3G purchased in December.

Hello,

I have managed to sync my iphone 3G with my 2008 prius no problem.

When you get to the screen that say "Not Paired" Touch the part that says "Not Paired" you will get to another screen that will let you enter the passkeey (1111).

I have the same problem. I have a 3GS phone bought just yesterday. The phone simply does not give me a chance to enter a passcode. Any help will be greatly appreciated... including an acknowledge from Apple that this is a software problem they are working on.

It seems like a software problem to me.

I too suffer from this problem in my 2007 prius. I can connect to a cheapo headset with no problem, but my prius won't work. Has anyone solved this yet?

Your Iphone must have the same passscode (1111). Settings, general, passcode then enter 1111. I have a 2009 and the iphone syncs fine.

I am having this problem syncing my iPhone to my Prius too. I had it synced and working great for about a month and then suddenly a few days ago it just stopped working. I deleted the iphone from the car and the car from the phone and tried to start over but it just does not ever find the car. When trying to get it to sync it actually seems to randomly turn off the bluetooth mode. Turning off the phone does not correct the problem. I have a bluetooth headset that is synced with no problem but the car it just seems to have forgotten ... I am somewhat frustrated and would appreciate any suggestions .... I am sure it is a problem in the phone not the car as the car sync works fine with other phones.

Figured out my problem. It was not the passcode (I never got to that screen) but the "name" of the bluetooth service had been erased. Once I reset my Prius bluetooth to factory settings, I noticed it restored the name, and viola, the connection worked. I'm guessing the iphone doesn't like talking to a bluetooth device whose name is an empty string.
