Print 2 A5 pages to one A4 page - Should be easy!

How do I print 2 A5 pages to one A4 page. I have a sheet that has been formatted and laid out to A5 and continues over several pages. I'd like to be able to print this document so I have two pages side by side on one A4 and duplex it so I can just fold it in half without messing with the sheet or data. Should be easy but it isn't. Can't find any option to print two pages on one anywhere.

I've looked right through print settings and sheet settings. Nothing appears to do the trick. Tried combinations of Paper handling settings and sheet settings but not working.

osihara,

The procedure to print 2 A5 pages per A4 page would be as described below.

This assumes that your Numbers document A5 pages are Portrait orientation and that your A4 pages would be Landscape orientation.

1. From Numbers, Print to PDF using the Open PDF in Preview option.

2. In Preview, Print dialog, set the Paper Size to A4, Landscape Orientation, Scale = 200% and in the Layout options, select 2 pages per sheet.

3. Print to PDF or to your printer. Preview gives you a better chance to look over the result before committing to paper. You may find that you need to change the print order to get your desired pairing of Numbers pages.

thanks for your response.

Yes the A5 is portrait and for the purpose I had in mind would require A4 to be landscape.

1. Would like to avoid PDF if I can.
2. Your advice led me to realise Numbers does have the same facility. The problem is the preview in the pint dialogue is misleading by not reflecting these settings.
3. Now I just have to remove the excessive margins.

Cheers,.

osihara,

Preview and PDF together are very powerful and should be embraced, not avoided. You can't do what you want to do using Numbers alone. PDF costs you nothing. You will not lose any resolution and you gain the ability to manipulate the document in many ways before printing.

Preview, in my case at least, was for a long time under-appreciated. It's one of the most powerful built-in tools of OSX. This particular trick just uses Preview to allow a change of Paper Size. The better you know Preview the more you will like it.

It's not that I have anything against PDF format, I just don't wan to use it for this purpose. I shouldn't have to in any case. I do use PDF quite often and love that it's so readily available in OS X.

Also I use Preview for many things for many purposes including printing as I do like it's print layout etc.

Got it working but it took some trial and error saving as PDF and viewing to see what I got. This is poor on Apples front. Still it's getting better.

Thanks for your help. Cheers,.
