Contacts Still show up in e-mail after deleted

Whenever I want to choose a contact to send an email, people I have deleted off my contact list more than a year ago still show up, not only their email shows up but the name I had for them ( i.e. - Ex-boyfriend as BABE), does anyone know how i can delete that if he's not on my contact list anymore?

The iPhone's mail client stores all message recipients in what is called a list of previous recipients. The address autofill feature pulls from the address book and from the list of previous recipients.

There is no way to access the list of previous recipients at the present time such as removing a previous recipient from the list or adding a previous recipient to the address book that is not already entered.

The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.

Restoring as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup - everything.
