Divx - DX50 Need to find codecs for a power PC

Hi,

I have a G4 powerbook and I need to find the codecs which will allow me to open DX50 files in Mpeg Streamclip. I went to the Divx site but they only have Divx 7 available to download and that only works on Intels.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

G4 Powerbook, 15", Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Try installing Perian from http://perian.org/

You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.

In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from

I seem to have found what I was looking for. I downloaded a trial-version of 3ivX which installed the 3ivX codecs in the Quicktime folder. That got the video to play in MpegStreamclip and Quicktime, but no audio. The below link has a download for DivX 5.1.1 and DivX 6.7

The 6.7 version actually downloads the newer version 7, which only runs on Intels. But the 5.1.1 version is genuine. I can now play the DX50 file in MpegStreamclip and Quicktime with audio.

Thanks for your help Klaus,
