KGCore Plugin causing crashes during Voice Over

I was in the process of creating a project in Final Cut Express, and when I got to the point where I wanted to add a "voice over", the program crashed. I can get voice over to start recording, but when I click "recording stop", the program suddenly crashes. It then produces an error message stating that the crash may possibly be caused by the KGCore plug-in.

I noticed that there are other postings on this forum concerning this plug-in, and have seen no reasonable solutions for this issue. Is Apple in the process of resolving this issue, or do they have a work-around for it? Can I uninstall this plug-in, or do something else that will allow me to use the voice over functionality of Final Cut Express?

Thanks,

Alicia

Welcome to the forum!

Try uninstalling the plugin. If it is an FxScript plugin, it can be found in one of these two places:

+User > Library > Preferences > Final Cut Express User Data > Plugins+

+Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Final Cut Express Support > Plugins+

If it is an FxPlug plugin, it can be found here:

+Macintosh HD > Library > Plug-Ins > FxPlug+

Locate the KGCore plugin, and delete it. See if this solves your problem.

This is an internal component of the application. (KG is KeyGrip, which was the original name for Final Cut Pro when it was at Macromedia, and KeyG is still used as the creator type.) You should do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the application. If this persists you need to take your computer to an Apple store or service technician.
