aargh!! headphone jack snapped off, how can i play through speakers??

after buying a cheap quality cable and having the tip of jack break off in the headphone jack my macbook is sound-less!

the tip in the headphone socket has bypassed the speakers but i can't get the tip out, is there anyway to bypass the headphone output and play through the speakers? (or any way to get it out!!)

thanks!

Did anyone ever come up with a fix for this? I'm having the same problem, tried a bunch of different ways to get the jack out with no luck. I've also taken my macbook to 2 separate Apple stores and to an independant (sp sorry) mac dealer to try and get it out with no resolution. And I do have apple care, but since it's not a manufacturing defect, they won't/can't help. They say the only fix is a new logic board. Any thoughts?

This exact issue was just discussed here a day or two or three ago.

some people have had success by applying a bit of glue to a stick of sorts and inserting it into the jack and gluing it to the plug. A plug is what you broke off inside a jack. You don't put a jack in a jack. this method runs the risk of getting glue where you don't want it.

Another method that I personally prefer is to remove the keyboard, heat a pin, and push the pin into the end of the plastic jack, creating a hole. Remove the pin, let the hole cool them push a cool pin into the hole to push the plug out.

Apple will most likely install an entire new motherboard to solve the problem. That is a crying shame in my opinion.

Very seldom will you get the glue to work, it's like a 5% chance

Just tonight I did this for a Client and it took me close to 2 hours of various tweezer positions and none of it worked until I did solution 2 and it took me 20 min. Yes! this is for a person with delicate hands, patience and tech savy.

Solution 1- If the Piece is not that jammed in
1. Use a small pair of tweezer or a very small cuticle nipper to take it out, I recommend the Cuticle if the piece is not jammed in there to far. The Cuticle will grip the small metal piece it can get, to pry it out. A tweezer will barely work unless it has great grip.

Solution 2- The only way to get it out if the Piece is jammed in
1. Get a Tac that has a finger grip or a very sharp Needle.
2. You will notice that 3.5 jacks have plastic pieces inside of them to separate the metal pieces from each other. This is where you will attack
3. Find the center piece of the 3.5 metal jack. Although it may not seem like it- it is there- Use a flashlight to really see what you are doing
4. You can heat up the TAC or Needle like gregory says or just keep twisting the Tac or Needle next to the center of the 3.5 metal pin until you get a good hole. A good hole is when there is visibly a hole next to the center 3.5 metal pin.
5. Then with a bigger pin or stonger pin sized metal object try scooping it out. Don't know if scooping is the right word but try and put pressure to it, pressing towards the corner as you push outwards, as if you had a spoon in icecream and you were trying to scoop it out.
6. If 5 does not work. Repeat step 4 making a bigger deeper hole.

There is no magic solution. And it is very easy to bend the Metal side corners of the computer Female Jack so be careful. Do not use crazy glue it will only mess things up.
