Safri insist to be the default browser

I'm using Mac OSX 10.5.7 and Safari v4 Beta (5528.17)
For some reason every time i set Firefox v3.0.10 to become the default browser and restart my Mac, Safari becomes the default browser !
What shall i do ?

MacBook Pro 15.4", Mac OS X (10.5.7), 2 GHz Intel - 2 GB RAM

HI,

Quit Safari,

Locate this file: com.apple.Safari.plist /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences.

Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Launch Safari. Launch Safari, go to Safari/Preferences and select your default browser. See if it work now. If it does, then that .plist file is corrupted. Drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash.

Hi

It worked for me without issue. While it's important to change the browser setting in both Firefox and Safari, not doing so has no effect on the browser setting sticking in Safari.

In the Finder: Home>Library>Preferences folder: Move to the desktop the com.apple.recentitems.plist file, then restart Safari and reset the default browser setting. Restart the computer etc.

If that doesn't work, in the same Library>Preferences folder, move to the desktop the com.apple.LaunchServices.plist file. Then, restart Safari, set the browser, etc.

I am having the same problems, too. None of the three solutions posted here worked. I should also note that in trying each of the solutions, Safari still had Firefox set as the default browser. I'm running Firefox 3.5.5, and Safari 4.0.3. Does anyone have any further suggestions?
