Mic-Boost?

How can I activate the mic-boost in OS X (10.5.7)? I need a mic-in, not a line-in for my mike. In Windows on the same computer I can easily switch between mic-in and line-in.

iMac 24" (Intel, late 2006), Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Welcome to Apple Discussions:
I am not aware of any "mic-boost" function. AFAIK, the input level is line level. Approximately 100mV RMS to get full output.

And no, it's not a PC.

I know it's not a PC. But it can run Windows and running Windows I can switch the line-in port to a mic-in port.

I also run XP and Vista on my Macs, but the line/mic function is a hardware property on a PC. It has nothing to do with Windows software, but rather the sound card.

The hardware on a Mac is not a function of the OS you are running. The link I gave you has everything you need to know about Mac audio.
You might also check into the audio forum here:

if you have other questions about the audio systems on Macs.
