import photos to iMovie without going through iPhoto?

Is it possible with the new imovie to import photos from somewhere else on my hard drive, NOT going through iPhoto? I prefer not to import all of my photos into iPhoto and in the old iMovie HD I had no problem importing photos from anywhere. Now it seems to require me to use iPhoto. How do I get around this? Thanks!!

Sure.

The easiest way is to drag the folder or folders containing the other picture right into your media browser in iMovie. Then you'll have access to iPhoto photos, Photo Booth photos and your other photo folders.
