How to Show USB Ethernet Status in Menu?

It’s USB or it's Ethernet..
You can turn On/Off Bluetooth and Airport, Showing status in the menu bar also allows you to turn these off/on.
You don't turn on/off Ethernet or USB. The status is they are working or they are not.

Sort of. You can disable the ethernet interface from System Preferences remember even though it is still working. Not sure about USB. Maybe its possible to have a Menu bar icon for it?

post a screenshot please. as mentioned there is no such thing as "USB ethertnet". there is USB and there is ethernet. also, neither has an option to put anything in the menu bar.

I agree which is why it's only a guess. 🙂

I know that some phone services such as VodaPhone provide such a USB Stick for fully untethered connections.

how about leaving the personal stuff out?
so that explains it and the OP is using a USB to ethernet adapter for MBA. I don't believe there is a menu extra for that.

Exactly what did I post that has gotten you all riled up?

one last thing. it's possible even though highly unlikely that there is a menu extra item for that adapter that's present on MBA installs of leopard but not on other versions of leopard. I don't have an MBA and can't check if this is the case. look in /System/Library/coreservices/menu extras. all available menu extras from apple are there (double-click one to add it to the menu bar). see if there is a menu extra item for a USB to ethernet adapter there.
