Assigning Pedal to change patch - inconsistencies

Hi All,

i have my main stage rig setup with all my patches and want to use a pedal to jump to next patch as I can't always lean over to change sounds when playing. I have my pedal added in the setup screen and I have learnt the control by pressing the pedal and seeing the midi messages coming into mainstage. This is all fine.

I then go on to assign this control to changing the patches. However, when I press the pedal the patch tends not to jump to the next one, it will jump through several and stop randomly. Its like the computer isn't seeing the pedal as a single hit it sees it as 0 -127 messages and gets confused. I know on the intial setup screen there were various combinations of settings ie. 'single value', 'alternating' etc. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Need a bit more information.

Is your pedal plugged in to your Midi Keyboard/Controller?
And what is it doing?
You might be sending out two types of Midi messages and confusing MS.

It should be a sustain type pedal so that when it is "learnt" by MS the Type comes up as: Press / Release. Not a modulation type pedal.

Or if it's changing patches on your controller just go to the Patch Inspector and tick the Program Change boxes in all your patches and number them sequentially. And don't have it as a control item at all.

Hi,

Cheers for the response. I have tried a bog-standard sustain pedal and a switching pedal. Plugged in to the control input on my controller keyboard which is connected to the mac via midi. The default is press and release.

For the master set I have assigned this pedal to go to next patch, unfortunately when I press it once it jumps through a few adjacent patches, so it is going to next patches but it continues through two or three, does that help?

Hmm...

I'm actually having same the problem on one keyboard but not another.
I think it depends on what midi messages the controller keyboard is sending out and what the settings are (on the controller).
The Midi CC# that works on my controller is CC69 (Hold2) which when learnt by MS comes up as Type; Press/Release. It also works as CC64 but that will conflict with your sustain pedal.

Is this a parameter that is set at the concert level or the patch level. I had the same problem using the FS-300. Then I changed the (next patch) and (prev patch) buttons to be mapped in the patch level and it worked much better.
