Assign Yamaha p80 voice change buttons to Mainstage patch change button

I've been trying to set up Mainstage with my Yamaha p80. I set up 12 standard patches to use in Mainstage. I created 12 buttons in two rows of six as it is on the actual keyboard.

I can see ways to tell the button to go to "next patch" or "previous patch" etc. But what I want is the first button to change go to my first patch, second button to the second etc as if these new Mainstage voices were the presets from the P80.

Seems like a simple procedure. But it's not. Any help?

I think your best bet is buy an external piece of midi hardware with buttons or foot pedals and to assign different "program change" numbers to each patch (this can be done by clicking on each patch and setting the program change number in the inspector). Then program your new device to send out program change numbers for the patches you want to switch.

Unfortunately if I recall correctly the P80's buttons don't actually send any midi out, so it would not be able to control MainStage directly.
