Album Art Size?

Can anyone tell me what the minimum file size is when iTunes sync's Album Art to an iPod Classic and 4th Gen Nano?

The Album Art takes longer to load for the Classic and I guess that part of this is related to the Album Art file size which will be bigger on the Classic as compared to the Nano with it's smaller screen.

I heard that iTunes decides which file size and which formats to sync but does anyone know what are the file sizes and formats by each device?

Thanks

Mathematically.

An iPod video 5th gen screen res is 320wx240h pixels
An ipod screen is 50mm wide (sorry, im australian, i use metric)
On full screen album artwork the cover appears 32mm wide
32/50 = 64%
64% of 320 pixels = 205
Therefore i would be looking around a 205x205pixel image

As far as i know, ipod classic sometimes shows the artwork the full height of the screen as in the menus. Therefore artwork would be 240x240pixels. i don't see any reason they would be bigger than this

itunes does automatically resize images used as coverart but i don't know about filesize
