Installing game "Cant verify Integrity of install"

Im trying to install a game and when i launch the data (i d/l'ed the game from a online game store) i get an error reading "Could not verify the integrity of the installer, please press OK to close" and i have no other option but to press OK and close the install leaving me right where i started. Is there any way to get around this? What does this error even mean?

Macbook Pro (Alum.), Mac OS X (10.5.7), 15", 250gb HDD, 4GB Ram

I have the same situation here, I downloaded the Sims 3 from Direct2drive.com and have the same error. It has NOTHING to do with a corrupt download or whatsoever, since the same download installs FINE on a PC with Windows.
Digging through some forums I came up with the suggestion, that I should purchase a special MAC Version of the game. Since Sims 3 for Mac is simply a CIDER Version of the PC-Game, the Mac Installer simply (should) installs the addition mac runtime files and so on.
Since I do NOT see the reason for buying another copy for my Mac, since legally you are allowed to activate it on 5 machines, no matter what operating system, I will try to get it running with the help of EA Support. This as such is VERY frustrating, since the Mac Installer is part of the download, simply does not RUN. I will try to keep in touch.

Welcome to Apple Discussions:
Just think about what you just wrote.
Obviously you downloaded the Windows version which CANNOT be installed on a Mac.
You answered your own question, which is "Why doesn't the windows version of whatever run on my Mac?"
The answer is obvious. Why should it?

The windows version is compatible with Macs from d2d so it should be working.

No it is not.
D2D has a separate version for Macs

So the problem hasn't been solved. I am also having the same message come up when installing sims 3.

Did you download this Mac version? They do NOT have a one-version-fits-all download.

Nerowolfe,

Really, if you don't know the situation, then you should not answer.
Unqualified and arrogant answers like this are reasons why we Mac Users are seen as snobs so often. And besides this your answers are not even helpful at all and only confuse newbies. You address me (us) like a little kid that is too stupid to install or even to buy a piece of software. But you have no clue about the situation itself. Nuff said...

It is like some others already said. Direct2drive CLAIMS that the Download PC-Version can be installed on MAC too, and there is a MAC Installer.app within the archive. Only it does not work, because the Installer stops with the above Error Message.
Only AFTER i paid and downloaded obviously the PC-Version of the game (from which they claimed it to be compatible) I realized, that there even IS a special Mac Version.

I am still trying to get a solution from Direct2drive besides automated standard answers. They just dont get it, that the installer does not work. So far to the OFFICIAL way.

But I am not that stupid and I got it working, the installation process is messy, but you get a working SIMS-3 on your Mac with the PC-Version.

Fact is, the Installer on Mac just installs the Wine-Emulator and configures the game within the emulator.
The only NATIVE OS X app is the Game Launcher (that has problems on its own, since it does not allow to install custom contents, does not update the game and so on, at least not from the PC-Version)
Everything else is just the PC-Version ran within the WINE environment. Hence the slow graphics. My kids in the meantime play the game within the Bootcamp environment. Like this the game runs WAY better than the emulated crap within OS X. So the recommendation is to install it on Bootcamp, only if you dont have that option, then install on Mac.

If someone wants to know how i managed to get it running with the PC-Version on Mac, give me a shout and i will let you know via PM

I opened a couple of tickets with Direct2Drive and finally got a response that worked. The one that worked was when I said that I had purchased the incorrect platform version and requested an exchange for the correct version. Direct2Drive sent me a note requesting that I first purchase the correct version and then they would refund me the original purchase amount -- which they have done. It was done very quickly!

Alright, guys, solution to this without refund, easy and quick, follows here:

1. Start the disk utility and create a new Img file, choose 8 GB Volume Size

2. Unpack the TheSims3 ddsetup1.0.631.00107.zip that you downloaded

3. Enter the unzipped folder, mark all the content and copy everything to the new DMG File. Make sure, that Installer.app is at the top level of the DMG structure, so not to copy the unzipped folder directly, copy the CONTENT of the folder.

4. Open then new DMG file, start the Installer and Voila, works.

The reason for not working in the first place is that the installer.app expects the directory structure of the installation to be at the top level, as if either on a dvd or in a .DMG file. If the installer is started from within the unpacked folder, that is not the case and the installer refuses to work.

Cheers.
