Ok so today I went to unlock my phone and well it wouldn't, it was just a black screen. I have tried the power button, holding it down. I have tried restarting it but the power button and home button. I have tried plugging it into the wall, which it makes the little noise when I plug it in, but nothing else. I have tried the buttons while it is plugged in but nothing.
I have an appointment later at apple, but just seeing if anyone has any ideas.

My iPhone died on Thursday night. It was fully charged one minute, then totally dead the next. I have an original 8GB iPhone (not 3G) and am 18 months in to the 24 month AT&T contract. As I did not have the extended Apple Care warranty Apple wanted $200 to look and repair, or they would replace with the SAME (outdated phone!!!) for $240. What a rip off.
Let me get this right in my head. Apple sells a phone with a one year warranty but AT&T sign you up for a 24 month contract. If you do not take the extended warranty and your phone dies in the second year then you are screwed.
Come on Apple - step up to the plate and sell the iPhone with a 24 month warranty. To expect everyone to spend an additional $70 for the Apple Care is a total rip off, especially when you know that AT&T are 24 month contracts.
Well to me it is your fault. All of Apples products are 1 year warranties. Why does Apple have to change their warranty policy, why doesn't AT&T make their contract a year. Because its just the way it is, and you should have known this going in.
Apple care is totally worth it. Considering I am on my 4th iPhone, and my Apple Care is up at the end of this month, well its not now until August because of the 90 day warranty. But anyway first replacement was the day after I got mine as there was a dead spot on the screen, second one was because of my calls were all breaking up, and then this last time because well it died. The last two were AFTER my 1 year warranty. So if I did not get Apple care I would have been out $400. The $70 to me seems worth it.
