Question

adding rain and lightning to a video?

I know that Imovie06 had a plugin to insert rain into video footage, unfortunately this seems to have been removed in later versions of Imovie..I also have Final Cut Express but neither software has this plugin..Can someone help me out..I really need these effects to give the video its feel in theme with song...any help is appreciated.

MACBOOK, MAC MINI, Mac OS X (10.4.11), MACBOOK IS OS X 10.4.11 and mini is on leopard

just looked in my apps - you're right: only iMHD6 offered a 'rain' effect, no such thin gin 08/09 nor in FCE4, nor as a plug-in for FCE (as far as I see after a few secs of googleing...).

so, your options imho:
use iMHD6 as 'effects machine' - export your clips as dv-stream, import to iMHD6, add FX, export again..

record some 'rain' (=watering pot) before a green background and use the greenbox effect in iM08/FCE. problem here is: it is very tricky to record drips - almost invisible... I assume, you have to do some experiments with setting the lights.. (and, if supported by cam, shutter speed)

This totally bites, there is no place to find Imovie06 anymore unfortunately and we aren't working with HD so catching rain is not going to happen especially with a green background..the camera isn't all that great I was hoping to use the effect of rain to capitalize on its deficiency.

I see that adobe after effects does this and may have no choice but to return to pc for simple video editing..I was hoping to find a solution to this as I will be on a plane for the next seven hours.
