Burning a .toast file to dvd.

Just maybe I put this in the wrong discussion thread. But all you guys here rock in your answers to my questions. I was trying to burn a .toast file which was to a DVD. While using Toast 10 I had 2:44 left. I was using a Memorex DVD DL; And an error popped up, which stated:

The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = HARDWARE ERROR
Sense Code = 0x09, 0x02
FOCUS SERVO FAILURE

Any ideas? I would rather use the OSX software to burn the files anyways. If you could let me know how I could convert the .toast file to and .iso (or the mac version of an iso)

I would try a different DVD.

Apparently, you can just rename the file in Finder.

I called Apple... And they instructed me to archive and reinstall the os. I did that. Tried to burn again and got the same errors. They told me to take it to one of there vendors. Which I did. They determined that it was a hardware problem. I just got the MBP back today with the new drive and it works great!

I have had exactly the same error. What I have found is that if I write a dual layer (Verbatim) disk using Toast 10.0.2, it always happens when writing to the internal drive. I tested this on my three Macs (Macbook - 6 weeks old), Macmini 2009 and my iMac (late 2007).
If I write the same data to an external USB DVD writer on any of these machines, it is fine.
If I write the disk using the internal writer using the Mac OS, the disk writes correctly as well.
I only have failures with Toast.
The OS is 10.5.7
In conclusion, there is something strange going on with Toast and the internal drives. Having made so many coasters with DL disks which are quite expensive in Australia, I now only use an external drive for DL disks. It is perfectly OK for single layer disks

I have had Toast (v9.0.2) act a bit squirrelly as well. I also don't like the fact that you can't save to a disk image in something other than a .toast file. So, after I've rendered a disk image, I take the resulting .toast file and use Disk Utility to convert it to a DVD/CD Master (drag the file onto Disk Utility, click the Convert button and select DVD/CD Master). I've had better luck burning that to disks from Disk Utility than .toast files from within Toast. Another benefit is, Toast doesn't boot up when you mount a .cdr.
