iPhone screen turns on every 15 seconds

For the last hour or so, the screen on my iPhone comes up without being prompted. I've tried restarting, but it just keeps going, turning on and off without assistance.

Ideas!??!?

The method you describe is the only way I reset/reboot.

I am on the latest Beta 3. I don't have access to my home machine currently where I backup all my apps including the one I'm beta testing, but for this to randomly begin occurring out of the blue is very weird.

I will restore once home, but I am rather interested into why this has begun to happen. As of this morning (4 hours ago) my battery was fully charged but as this has happened every so often that the original poster describes (the phone stops responding when this happens, I assume 100% cpu utilization), it's draining my battery incredibly fast.

I have the exact same problem, except the cycle is around 15 seconds.

The phone goes from standby to the 'slide to unlock' screen and then goes back to standby all on its own, and it does this continuously until it bleeds the battery dry - it's killing me as it keeps catching my eye when the phone's on my desk.

The following scenarios stop this happening.

- I switch the phone to silent (I'm using this as a stop gap solution).
- I'm playing music through the phone's speakers.
- I'm playing music through headphones.
- It's charging.
- It's connected to my laptop.

I've tried all the usual stuff, rebooting, restoring, airport mode, no wifi, switching off all notifications, removing all 3rd party apps, turning of all push/email related programs etc...

I'm pretty stumped to think what's causing this, when it started happening I'd done nothing new/different to the phone (no new apps installed, I'd not synced it, knowingly dropped it, had a issue plugging in the charger or headphones).

I'm at the point where I think I'm going to need to go to the O2 shop (one of my least favourite things to do) and experience customer service...there must be some clever dick out there that knows how to resolve this....?????

TIS (hopefully)
