Disable creation of proxies. How ?

There's nothing you can do to prevent FCSvr from stored a clip proxy. Setting the transcode setting to None, actually make a copy of the Primary Representation "Original Media" is doesn't "not create a proxy". If you don't want to have clip proxies on store on disk, your best best here would be just make sure that Spolight is enable on the volume that your Proxies.bundle is stored and then either manually search for .mov file and delete them, or have someone write script that will automatically detect newly created .mov file in your Proxies.bundle file and delete them.

Wow, that *****, you can't disable Proxy create? If you don't want proxies, there's no way to turn that feature off with FCServer????

Hey Nicholas, what is typical of an FCServer proxy create, compared to real-time. Does FCServer create proxies at 1/4 real-time, or 6 time real-time? From my experience, Compressor is pretty slow on FCStudio2 installs and I wouldn't expect FCServer to be faster... is it? I know this all depends on the proxy type (codec, size and etc.).

I have experience with Dalet and FORK, both competing products, though more features, and they create a proxy at around 6x real-time for Dalet and I think faster with FORK. What should be expected for FCServer on a single, dedicated XServe (new one, 8core)?

In Compressor you can allow job segmenting and in Qmaster you can create a cluster with 4 instances of compressor. That way you'll have 4 compressor running at the same time transcoding the same file.
With more hardware you can expand this as far as you like.
