I am happy to report that "iMic" from Griffen Technology has worked well! I have recorded off the radio & old jam tapes that I want to preserve into the software application that comes with iMic (Final Vinyl) and then save it as a iTunes file. From here I can burn audio cd's. So thanks to Jim V. Also thanks to Mike J.; the Roxio product looked promising, it was more expensive, but it also included recording of video- but as far as I could tell when checking the system requirements, Mac was not included.
"Golfing Pair's" idea about using Garage Band seems interesting- for me, I might use this input route (with the iMic I hope) to revisit some old music from my past and overdub on it. I wonder if Garage band could correct tuning that gets warped out on tape players?
