Copy to this computer: Queued - How to get it to "actually copy"?

I have two copies of ARD, one at home and one at the office. I was able to copy a file from a client at the office to the desktop of the ARD computer using drag and drop, but when I try to drag it to my ARD computer desktop at home, I see a "Copy to this computer: Queued" message, but it never actually copies over to the computer at home. The 3283 and 5900 ports are open and set and functional.

Furthermore, if I just try to drag a file from the home ARD to the office ARD, I get a dialog box that just says 'Queued'.

We are talking about 4k files that should take mere seconds.

How do I actually copy these files?

Thanks.

A common problem, but no fix-all response. Unless this is something you need to do often, you might just find a way around it, such as emailing the files, or, if they are text files, open on the source Mac, select all, copy, click the appropriate clipboard copy direction button, and paste it into a new document. For larger files, not so good, but for 4k, should be a piece of cake.

As firewalls get tougher, those sorts of tricks get less and less reliable. That being said, you might try turning off both computers' firewalls for testing to narrow down the possible cause(s).

Good luck

Just to make sure, do a port scan of the client from the admin system. Verify that the necessary ports are indeed open. I've seen enough situations where people were sure that a port was open but it wasn't, sometimes due to an oversight and sometimes due to a firewall (sometimes the Mac OS X firewall) incorrectly reporting a port as open. Things may indeed be open, but it's worth verifying with a port scan.

I don't think you wrote this, I apologize if I missed it, but is the other computer fully updated? Is it 10.4 Tiger or above?
I see buttons greyed out when trying to copy clipboard to a client with an older version of the ARD client software. Some limitations also appear when the client is 10.3 Panther.
Grasping at straws, but worth checking. If the client is far away, you can determine their ARD version via Get Info or <command>-J to set which columns you can see.

Good luck -

Check to see if the user that you have enabled Remote Management for on the client Macs does, indeed, have permissions to do everything on those Macs. If everything is working correctly, when in 'Control' mode, you can drag-and-drop files from your management Mac directly onto the controlled Mac's window and it should copy over. Be sure to stop any 'Queued' copying operations before trying another one. Sometimes, all that is needed is to reset the settings in 'Sharing->Remote Management' -or with kickstart from the commandline- to get hings going again.
