What is "APPLE MOBILE DEVICE SUPPORT"?

What sort of program is that. It is installed on my computer. I do not have an IPHONE. I only have an IPOD. Do i need this program for my IPOD? Can i delete if not a necessary program? thanks

You can delete it, since you don't have an iTouch or iPhone. A few iTunes versions back, it was causing my iTunes to crash and I got rig of it and was able to use iTunes and sync my nano.

Hey there,
Apple Mobile Device Support is used to automatically detect an iPod when it is plugged into the computer's USB port. Unless you have an iPod you sync to your iTunes library, then you don't necessarily need it and can go ahead and remove it from within the Add and Remove programs featured from the Control Panel.
