How much does it cost to repair an iPhone 3G broken screen (outer glass) through the Apple store and how long does it take?

Apple doesn't offer a menu or repair services except for replacing the battery.

Apple's out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price pays for an exchange.

This 3rd party repair company charges $100 to replace the glass only - if the LCD is not damaged.

If the LCD is damaged also, they charge $200, which is the same as Apple's repair price that pays for an exchange.

if you are like me you recently got up with your iPhone 3g on your lap and watched it fall to the ground and crack. I was so bummed when this happened and I was even more bummed when I found out that Apple charges 199 for this repair! I then did some searching and found http://www.iphone3gscreenrepair.com. They had the same repair for only $69.99 and better yet, they had my phone back in the mail to me the same day they received it. I really recommend them!
