Mail does not make a whoosh sound when I send mail anymore. I went into preferences and shows Play sounds for other mail actions checked. Anyone know how to troubleshoot this one?
Hi
I don't know if you have fixed this yet, but I had the same problem after update of 10.5.6. I cured it by going to system prefs, sound, select "play user interface sounds" The sent e mail sound then works.
Thanks. We have it all fixed. Removed send from the toolbar and put on a new send icon. Restarted computer and checked in preferences to play sound for other events. Something worked. Don't know what it was.
Good for you!
"Removed send from the toolbar and put on a new send icon."
Is this the "Send" on the new Message window?
Sounded easy until I tried to do it.
A little more detail. perhaps, please.
I miss my whoosh, but I wouldn't want to mess up my mail application either.
Best wishes
We clicked on new message and then went to customize toolbar under the view menu. Drag the old icon off and then drag a new one onto the toolbar. We went to mail preferences to make sure the play sounds for other mail actions was checked. We even rebooted to make sure. Worked for us. We had this occur on our old iMac G4 and eventually it came back-don't know why. Good luck.
I just ugraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.7 on a G4 MDD. Mail sounds were not working so I googled and found this. It works. all the folks writing about a bug hace run in to a 'feature' or someone in engineering missed that users might want to hear sounds in Mail but not in other areas of the interface. Here is the solution that worked for me
