Clearing MCX settings on clients AFTER they are unbound from server.

Hello,

I have some 10.5 client machines with managed, mobile accounts on them. Now, I have to unbind these clients from the server and change these client accounts to Admin access.

The problem I'm running into is that some of the System Preference panes, which were locked down (grayed out) when the accounts were managed, are still grayed out even after the account is made into administrator and unbound from the server.

Does anyone know how to clear the mcx settings/cache so that these System Prefs panes will open/unlock?

Thanks!

Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Mobile accounts retain their managed settings even if the computer is not bound to the directory. Best to delete the mobile accounts and use local accounts instead.

However, if you don't want to do that, this command will delete the managed settings from a mobile account.

sudo dscl . -delete /Users/usershortname dsAttrTypeStandard:MCXSettings

If you bind to the directory again, the mobile accounts will get their server settings restored when they log in.

If you are getting managed settings for local accounts and don't want them, use this command to clear the settings:

sudo dscl . -delete /Computers
