red cross button vs cmd+h

Hi, I would like to ask someone what is the difference between pressing a red cross button or pressing cmd + h command for hiding an application? If cmd+h is used then cmd+tab can be used for bringing any running application on desktop but all apps which were hidden by pressing red cross button cannot be restored/ display on the screen by pressing cmd+tab command even they are shown in a menu. It does not make a sense for me and in my opinion it would by great if red cross button works in the same way like cmd+h command
