Importing music from DVD or blue-ray?

Hi all, I want to know if I can somehow import music from a DVD or blue-ray disc into itunes. I am considering buying the Neil Young archives set and it comes in different formats: CD, DVD, and blue-ray. I have a blue-ray player at home but would only buy that format (or the DVD), if I can import the music into itunes to play it in my ipod as well. I own a MacBook Pro bought in July 08. Thanks for your help.

There are some very good third party programs that will get this done for you very easily, if you want to spend the money. I use WireTap Studio, which you can Google and go to the website to download. I think the cost was $69. This software, as their website says, can record any audio you can hear on your computer. That would include DVDs (assuming your computer can play them) and everything on YouTube (not the video, just audio -- there are other programs for that.) WireTap Studio is very user-friendly and is set up very similar to iTunes. You can record with it, and have the files saved directly from there into iTunes.

There are other cheaper programs and similar ones out there, but I have not used them. As I recall, you can download a trial version of a couple of the programs to try them out. Take a look and see which one you like best, and if you think you will use it often enough to justify the expense, go for it!
