You should be doing it like this

The "Easy Way" is to Insert the Install Disk and Run the Additional Items folder and limit the choices in Options to iChat.
This User's Tip works for iChat 3 and 4 (you don't say what you have)

The so called "Hard Way" is by using Pacifist for Charlessoft

Whichever method you use you need to download and install the COMBO version of the Update level you are at installer as notes at the bottom of the User's Tip.

Please, if posting Logs, do not post any Log info after the line "Binary Images for iChat"

my problem is, is that i deleted ichat at one point and i did the easy way and reinstalled Ichat. But once i click on ichat, it opens and says,
"Ichat could not connect to ichatAgent."

is there anyway you could help me too? because i've been searching the web for hours and i have had no help at all! 😟

Hi,

How did you delete iChat ?
If you simply dragged the App from the Applications Folder to the Trash then the Easy Way and the COMBO Updater are the way to Go.

If you used something Like AppZapper then you will need to do the Hard Way and the Combo Updater as most likely the two support folders will also have been removed.
