Encoding Video for iPhone Using Handbrake

Hi,

I've been encoding videos for a while using Handbrake and have got them stored on my Mac. I'm now trying to sync them with my iPhone. However, some will sync but for others I get the message that the films could not be copied because "the video format is not supported by the iPhone".

I've checked the films that will sync and those that won't and I can't, from the information I can find, see any difference (all at 640 x _, H.264, low complexity, AAC at 160k, total bit rate of less than 1,500).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Thanks.

I have used Handbrake many times. It's good because it's free. But not the best. I like it because it is fast. And it's fast for free. Not always accurate, however.

The version of Handbrake you should be using is 0.9.2. On the menu on the right select iPod Hi-Rez. It will put an iPod atom marker on it that iTunes recognizes. The bad news is that the finished format will be in an iPod screen that will have bars on the right and left sides when viewing on an iPhone/Touch. I have used the settings for the iPhone/Touch which maximizes the full screen but then had to go to "advanced" in iTunes, select "create iPod or iPhone version" then that takes 40 minutes to covert each movie.

A better alternative is to pay for the iskysoft Media Converter for about $49 which allows me to edit whatever Handbrake screws up. I like Handbrake but, like I said, it's free.
