removing scratches (iPhone 3G)

Hey guys,

I've been noticing A LOT of little scratches on the back of my black iPhone 3G. Is there anyway to remove these? I've actually thought about taking some plastic polish that I have from both Meguiars and Quix, and applying that to the back. Do you guys think that would work?

Hi,
these scratches are hard to get rid of the bigger and deeper they are. i would not try touchup paint or plastic repair paint. it may discolor the back of the phone. if you have a black iphone 3g, i suggest trying black electrical tape, if you have white iphone 3g, try a thin strip of white tape. otherwise, i suggest getting a case and keep it on, i have a case on both of my iphones and they have no scratches on them. A hard case with soft plastic is a great idea, a black and white incipio case with plastic corners has done wonders for my 3g. you risk nothing with a case besides water damage.

Unless you are very skillful at using the plastic coating, otherwise stay away from polishing as you might damage the coating of the iPhone 3G especially the Silver Apple. There is no coating on the Silver Apple Logo. There are two solutions to avoid getting your phone scratched in the future.

1. INCASE slider and apply tapes at the top and bottom bezel, do not keep sliding the phone in and out of the case, because dust might trap in between while you slide and scratch the back with vertical lines.

2. Zagg's invisible shield to cover the back but don't apply the front for the touch screen. Also NEVER combine slider INCASE with invisible shield as the slider will pull off the invisible shield.

Finally, I'm not trying to teach you to be dishonest, but if you apply the Zagg's invisible shield and sell your phone by saying your shield has been applied since launch, people might actually believe you. Once you have correctly applied the shield, you can't see any hairline scratches.

I just found my Incase slider and slid my new 3G S into it... Forgot to clean it out with the microfiber, now I have a small somewhat visible straight line on a part of the back of my iPhone. Any suggestions to get rid of this line? I got the phone 2 weeks ago, it never ONCE happened to my 3G with this case, and I had it for a year! Please please PLEASE help me. I guess I'm willing to buy some kind of scratch remover, like Applesauce sounds good.. I don't know though what to do!
