Trouble with moving iPod from Mac to PC

My old computer was an older iBook that I formatted my iPod with, which now doesn't work. Now I have a brand new HP and I put my iPod into my new iTunes, and it says that I have to restore my iPod to factory settings before i can use my iPod on my new laptop. However, I can't get to any of my music, because when I go in from my Computer, it says I need to format my drive before it will work, and i'm afraid that doing so will delete my songs. What can I do?
