Opening .swf File

Question

Opening .swf File

Hey guys

Before I got broadband I used to like downloading .swf games and movies of newgrounds and other site from work and take them home and play them. No after awhile I have built up quite a collection of .swf files. When ever I wanted to play one I just open it with Safari. All fine until Safari 4.

Can anybody else open a .swf file downloaded of the net, through Activity Window??

Hi,

I'm having the same problem here. I only have two .swf files that I do
like to use though. It seems that everytime you want to open
one with safari it just throws you back to the finder. If you use firefox
it works fine though. I don't have a solution yet, but I guess that
Apple will adress this or there will be some kind of workaround.

Ok so it must be a problem with Safari.

Its good to hear somebody else also has the problem, and that it's not just my machine.

Do you have Adobe Shockwave Player?

As Klaus1 points out, you need to download load Adobe Shockwave player. Most interactive games on the internet are made by Adobe Director and need the the shockwave player to play them.

I don't know about Safari, but here's a free program that can open SWF files:

There's also a paid professional version. Hope this helps.

thanks i'll give it a go. wonder why i cant just open it anymore with safari

seems i might have too pity, that apple decided to change whatever that allowed you to play those files.

I might have to put up with if i want to watch or play i use that program 'cos the shockwave player didn't help. Or just have to redown load.
