Imac G3 OS 9.2.2 photo edit

I just got my daughter a Kodak C310 digital camera. The included software from Kodak apparently requires OSX for downloading; her Imac has OS 9.2.2. Two questions please: When she has wanted to view pictures from this other camera on her G3 she simply puts the memory card in a a 'smart stick', and sticks it in the usb port. Now, trying it by using the usb camera to computer; there's no pictures to view. The 'help' book only makes mention of 'downloading the disk', which is not possible here. Also, what would be a good program for photo editing/viewing of her digital pictures that would be compatible with her OS 9.2.2. Thanks for your thoughts. Eric

Your best bet would be a cheap USB card reader to get the pictures off the camera.

PictureViewer is included with Mac OS 9 and will open many formats including .jpg, which most consumer level digi cameras use. PictureViewer has a few, limited functions such as rotate and crop.

For picture editing, have a look at GraphicConverter:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/1870 it's shareware, but fully functional as a demo version, so you can try before you buy - it's well worth the money.

You may not have Foreign File Access (Extension) or File Exchange (Control Panal) enabled to read from the Stick. Those are usually PC formatted and need the items. USB conflicts with iTunes-Reo or Nomad drivers (Extensions) is another issue. I ditch them because they were for a Mp3 Player of which I don't have.

Look around for Photoshop Elements 2 in particular. I have seen them around $20 on clearance in my area. Web prices on a quick search shows them close to that price. It is meant for photo fixing and it rocks!
