Does anyone know anything about the "SafariSyncClient"?....

I'm now having a problem with my RAM and processors being "eaten" up by this process called "SafariSyncClient". It only appears when I run Mail or Safari 4. It keeps running even after each program has shut down.

I have to manually force quit the process to keep it from dragging down my system. Interestingly enough, if I open both Mail AND Safari 4 at the same time, two separate SafariSyncClient processes open up.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks / Josue

There is another recent thread on this. Here is my reply to that one:

I have the same problem, and only have maybe 15 more bookmarks than the ones that come with Safari. The problem also surfaced when I upgraded from Safari 4 beta to Safari 4.

Not everybody seems to have this problem otherwise there would be a huge outrage, so I suspect that it has to do with something in our configuration.

It should get solved eventually and I will call apple support to try to do so. In the meantime, I worked around it by deselecting "Bookmarks" under the MobileMe Sync Preferences and then using Activity Monitor to kill the SafariSyncClient process. It doesn't return. I also don't get my bookmarks sync'd to MobileMe, that that is not an issue for me right now as I only have one Mac.

Thanks for your input guys. I guess I will have to wait for the software update to be released. Unfortunately, I don't believe this is only related to the preference for MobileMe, as I do not have an active MobileMe account. Another thing, the problem isn't only with Safari 4, the process also activates when I open Mail. Hmmm.... I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I spent some time on the phone with Apple tech support today. They were very helpful and appeared to have solved the problem. They had me go to iSync in the applications directory, go the Preferences and then click on Reset Sync History. First they had me log out of MobileMe, but not sure that was important. I logged back in to MobileMe. I have now been using my Mac for an hour now with no recurrance of the safarisyncclient.

Good luck
