Installing Boot Camp after Parallels

Hi and welcome to Discussions,

it is safe to use BootCamp to install Windows after you have installed it with Parallels.
However keep in mind that you have to activate XP after the installation.
If you 'only' have one XP license, then activating the BootCamp Windows will de-activate your Parallels Windows.
According to this http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=13394 this issue can be overcome.

Hi,

yes it will.
Due to the fact that you run the same XP license twice on 'different hardware components' (once native with BootCamp and once virtualized with Parallels), XP thinks that you are running it on two different computers.
The link I gave is meant to compensate that, but I myself haven't tried it.

what about the other way around? If you install windows with boot camp, and then try to install again with parallel, will you need a second copy of windows?

I would think that the same would occur, but I'm just basing this off of logic. Don't take it from me.

According to the link I provided http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=13394 the licensing 'issue' can be overcome, but I haven't tried myself.

I know that Windows can be installed via Boot Camp, and then Parallels can access this install to run.
Can you set up Boot Camp after Parallels already installed without reinstalling a version of Windows?

I suppose I could go through the reinstall from scratch process, but it would be nice to just be able to Boot Up from the Windows system and files I already have set up with Parallels.

Did you find any solution for your problem because I have the same problem I had bootcamp and parallel in my system and I used parallel and now I uninstalled parallel and I can not use my bootcamp. it seems I should do something to use that.
If you find any solution please let me know.
