Help Help! Microsoft Entourage 2004 is preventing my messages to my email.

hey guys this is so weird!
I decided to use mic entourage 2004 vers 11.4.0 so i can send emails directly from craigslist and others websites. I added the account, pop/smtp server, and now i realized that it's been 3/4 days that i'm not receiving emails. This is so weird cause that never happened before. On top of that, it took all my messages from the inbox of the actual email server (windows live) to the inbox of entourage. So now my inbox of the windows live email is totally empty.
I really don't know what's going.

mac pro 2.16 ghz 1gb memory, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hi KS,

You evidently have Entourage setup to remove messages from the Server when Downloaded, either turn that OFF, or set it up as IMAP, which just "Syncs" the Mac & Server. 🙂

I don't have Entourage to know exactly where/which Preference has a little box to uncheck Remove from Server, but here's basic setup for IMAP, just substitute your info where needed...

1)ok ok, i follow the direction but i noticed that i can change the account to "imap server", instead i have it as POP.
2)How can i get back all the emails into the original inbox?

What I'd try is this...

Turn off checking Mail in Entourage.

In Mail>File>Import Mailboxes, Entourage should be the first choice, do that, once Imported move them to the original folders and I'm thinking that should put them back on the Server then too.

Setup IMAP in entourage, and once you're sure you have all your Mail back, might get rid of the POP account if you can't find a Leave Messages on the Server Pref.

We want to try to import into Mail from Entourage, not import into Entourage.

yeah, you mean from Entourage into the original mail that is a windows live account. So i should go into mail of windows live? How can i do it? I can't find the option.

I'm confused I guess, I thought we were trying to use the Mail APP on/in OSX to import all the mails from Entourage.

No.
I am trying to re-enter all my emails from entourage back to my school email which is "myname"@baruchmail.cuny.edu. Entourage sucked all my emails from the original email inbox and moved them into its. This is a school email which is also a windows live.

But I think, the way to do it is to import it into a Mail IMAP account so it can sync it back.

but i didn't use the "Mail" application in the beginning to syncronize my mail account. Actually i didn't use it at all, i just went straight with entourage.

Academic, we're trying to recover them from Entourage & restore them to the Server, which I assume is IMAP!?

i guess so. So what do u suggest me to do now? See now that i unselect the check box "include in this account "send and receive all"schedule" it stopped receiving and "sucking" messages from the server which is good. Cause i don't wanna use this program no more lol

Does that account have something besides pop.live.com, like imap.live.com?

I can't find that they do, I suspect we may need to setup a gmail IMAP account, import Entourage into Apple's mail after we setup an IMAP account in that, then import from Entourage, move mails to appropriate gmail IMAP boxes.

For iPhone, but some good clues here anyway...
