Jun 19, 2009 1:25 PM in response to mbeanby JoeyR,The 17" models were not refreshed with the recent round of eh-hem "updates"... so they are still set to 3.0Gb. Hopefully they can send out a firmware update to correct this. Likewise... I would not be happy to see a firmware update come out for older machines giving them a free "upgrade" to 1.5Gb... then you'll hear some screaming. -

I have a "mid 2008" mbp too, and it reports 1.5. Maybe this change was made LOOONG ago, and people are just now catching it.

Jun 19, 2009 10:54 PM in response to le.john.33by Sy Le,Hi all, I have a question on the downgraded sata interface from sata-300 to sata 150.
Here it is, I am looking to upgrade my hard drive from 5400rpm to 7200rpm. I wonder if the downgraded sata interface does have an impact on the speed. If yes, how does it affect the performance? -
Jun 20, 2009 2:23 AM in response to Sy Leby Koncdead,^ you should seriously read what was posted through out this whole thread. -

Yes, you have been kinda lazy by just posting your ? without doing even a little reading...
Basically, the SATA interface will not affect the speed of any hard drives, only solid state drives.
Upgrade away... -
Jun 20, 2009 6:55 AM in response to revmanby Zebra1,The Nvidia chip is the same one used in my Macbook Air that shows 3 gigabit speed in the system profiler, so I think this could be corrected with a firmware update. -
Jun 20, 2009 7:11 AM in response to Zebra1by IamNehalem,Yeah let's hope so. Until then i'll stay away from Macbook Pros and keep an eye on this thread. -

Jun 22, 2009 8:39 AM in response to le.john.33by kman,I really wish Apple would issue a response on this issue. I am holding out on a purchase until they do. -
Jun 22, 2009 8:56 AM in response to kmanby eww,Kman: What could Apple say that would help you? "Oops!"? "Gee, we're sorry"? "We didn't think you'd notice"? "Return the computer and we'll refund your money"? Or how about "This is our product line — buy a Mac or not, as you choose."
