Mac OS X 10.4.11 Firewall Settings?

Hello,

I've got another question - for those using Mac OS X 10.4.11 and iChat 3.1.9. Are there any special settings that need to be configured in Sharing >> Firewall preferences when using iChat? I video chat with my Mom quite often and she uses an iMac G5/2GHz running Mac OS X 10.4.11 and we have her firewall turned on in Sharing >> Firewall preferences but nothing at all is checked in the Firewall preferences and nothing has been specially configured. Her connection seems to work just fine as-is but I figured I'd better check just in case since I will be seeing her tomorrow and am going to do some updating and backing up on her computer.

Seems to me that the built-in Mac OS X 10.4.11 Firewall is pretty much self-configured for using iChat already. I'm just not sure if I have to add any "New" or "Advanced" settings in order for her iChat to work optimally.

Thanks so much,
Gerard

Hi,

I come form the other schools of setting the iCHat ports and running the firewall On in Tiger.

However we found that the iChat Bonjour preset used the ports from the Panther Firewall and gave them just TCP attributes (And they need to be UDP)

This means creating your own for iChat itself as the AV ports and Jabber ports are not even listed.

IF it does work don't change it.

If it does not...
TCP 5190, 5220, 5222, 5223, 5298
UDP 5190, 5060, 5297, 5298, 5353, 5678, 16384-16403
