How do I correct an Apache Tomcat/4.1.24-Error report?

I have to repeatedly re-connect with Internet Connect every time I try to open a new or different link, or if I refresh a site, I have to re-connect.
On occasion, Apache Tomcat displays the following report:
type: Exception Report
description: The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
exception: java.lang.NullPointerException.

Will someone please tell me how to correct this problem? It just started this week, and is very annoying. Thanks, Leon

What issue are you asking about, specifically?

There are (at least) two issues in your post, but I don't see they're related at all.

Since your subject focusses on Tomcat I'll assume your primary question is how to fix the NullPointerException.

NullPointerExceptions are typically caused by bugs in the code. You'll need to look at the code of the site you're running to determine what the problem is.

I guess it's possible that the NPE is caused by a dropped network connection, in which case it might be related to your other issue, but there's no way anyone can troubleshoot that one with such little information to go on.

Hello Camelot, you are so right. I apologize for the misleading presentation of my problem. I will attempt to do a better job.

One Subject: I am recently experiencing a problem with my system dropping my Internet connection.

The only diagnosis I have is the Apache Tomcat Report.
The ATP says, “The server encountered an internal error that prevented if from fulfilling this request.” Once the report had one exception line, “java.lang.NullPointerException” but another time the report included that line and 93 other lines of data.

My system is a Mac PowerBook G3 Pismo running OSX 10.4.11. I use an Airport Extreme and a landline to connect to Earthlink who is my Internet Provider. I have never experienced this problem before that I remember. I have used this same system for eleven (11) years. There have been no hardware or software up dates recently. Permissions have been repaired daily in an attempt to resolve the dropping connection problem. Am I getting closer to providing proper information for you to help?
