Low Audio both in Photo Booth movies and using Quicktime

Good morning all, My partner lives in Amsterdam and when I make him a Video either from Photo Booth or Quicktime as new movie, the sound is really low, even after I go into the properties and turn the audio all the way up. Am I missing something here? When I use my iSight for Skype it's fine. I also have quicktime pro if that helps. Thanks!!!

Intel Duo Imac, Mac OS X (10.5.6), just upgraded to 4G's of ram!

For starters see Article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 How to Troubleshoot iSight
If the solutions mentioned in the above Article do not work then you will need to try the following..........

Open up a new/test account & see if you have the same sound problem. If so, then the problem is system wide & not just a corrupted file on your account.

Go to System Preferences>Sound

Double check all your *Input & Ouput* settings.

Go to Home>Library>Preferences
Trash the +sound plist+ file if you have one. Sorry, I am not on my Leopard comp at the moment. Therefore, unknown if Leopard has sound preference files.

Try running repair permissions from your HD and afterwards run +repair disk+ from your software install DVD.

If the above did not work regarding your QT issue, suggest that you cross-post over in the QuickTime for Mac OS Forums. You will need to indicate which version of PRO you are using.

How do you run a repair disk...?

*_Repairing a 10.5 startup disk_* is explained in Apple's OS X 10.5 Help page "*Repairing your startup disk*":

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8492.html

Regardless of which method you use, *restart your Mac after repairing its startup disk*.

For *_ permissions repair_*, Apple's OS X Help page "*About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature*":

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1452

tells you that
When possible, disk permissions should be repaired while started up from a Mac OS X volume (hard disk) that contains updated Mac OS X software, instead of a Mac OS X installation disc...

+If you follow these instructions when booted from your normal startup disk,+ *you do not need to restart your Mac after repairing permissions*.

Repairing permissions from the Tiger or Leopard DVD

Boot up from your Tiger or Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.

Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.

Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the _*"repair disk"*_ button in the right hand section of the window.

If Disk First aid is able to complete the repair now click on the "Repair permissions" button.

Once this process has been completed restart your computer.
