Boot Camp and "boot rom firmware"

I had OSX Leopard Installed on one disk and Windows XP on another disk. It has worked fine until now.

2 days ago these events took place.

-The windows disk was no longer listed in the "Startup Disk" menu
-Then I could not run the Boot Camp Assistant anymore. It opens with a error saying I have to update my computer`s boot rom firmware

I have tried to reinstall OSX 2 times (although I kind of knew that would not help). I have tried every Firmware update found on the apple website. It will not run saying "Your computer does not need this update"

I also tried a CD that would restore the firmware. Did not work.

I need help here.. I

If you launch DisK Utility from the utilities folder does the HDD on which windows is installed appear.

If so it may be "grayed out" indicating that it has been dismounted from the system.
I have had this happen after using a Bootcamp Windows installation within a VM !

If the drive is there and grayed out. Right click on the disc image in the left hand panel of Disk Utility and then click on Mount.
The disc should now be accessible again.

This is beyond me to fix, and after reading for hours online I had to call apple support. I will return later to give you the solution to this problem once they are able to help me. So far they have only come up with advices that I have already tried or that did nothing with the problem. Worst case scenario is changing the chip or the entire board..:(
