getting "synched with another itunes library" error message

I am getting an error saying that my ipod is synched with another itunes library. This is strange as I have been using the same IPOD with this computer for more than 4 years. I reinstalled itunes and my library comes up but my IPOD and library are not able to synch up.

Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

IBM, Windows XP
