Unable to restore factory settings on airport extreme

I have one of the UFO looking AE base stations. Someone in the studio decided to play with the settings and now it doesn't work. I have no manual either. I can't do anything. When I try to go into the manual setup i get an error message. I want to start from scratch but I can't restore the factory settings. Using the restore default settings in the airport utility does nothing. I've tried everything I can think of short of throwing it against the wall. I woulddo more Internet research but I'm forced to use my iPhone and the 3G network is acting incredibly slow today. Please help.

How are you trying to restore to factory settings?

You have probably already tried the usual process of holding in the reset button until the amber light blinks rapidly.

Try another method:

Unplug the Extreme from power and leave it off 10-15 minutes
Hold in the reset button and continue to hold it in while you apply power back to the Extreme
Release the reset button after 10 seconds

If you can't get the Extreme to reset after several tries, it is very likely that the unit has experienced in internal electrical failure and will need service or replacment.
