3G? Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic

Hi,

I notice the Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic, is now showing compatibility with the new 3GS.

Will the 3.0 software make it fully compatible with the 3G?
Why exactly wasn't it compatible anyway?

I don't believe the 3G with 3.0 will be compatible, or it would have indicated it as so in the Apple Store listing which was updated to show the 3GS. The issue is the way the microphone and mode switching (phone call/music) work. The headset was originally designed for the iPod Touch II, which works differently than the iPhone 3G.

No, the Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic compatibility is listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3310

The volume controls don't work with the iPhone 3G, but you can still hear and pause playback. The mic works with the iPhone 3G also.

Thanks guys.

I can live with the volume not working. As long as everything else works that's fine. It also means the headphones will actually stay in my ears!

Hi

I find it totally weird that the 3G wont support the remote volume control.... I love the sound, and the ability to jump songs... but so annoying I cant easily adjust the volume.... Surely Apple can fix...
