How to add .mov extension to Quicktime clips ?

Not to exported movies but to all the individual clips / movies, created
by capturing process. I know I have seen the box to check / uncheck ( add
.mov extension.

Obviously I didn't check it, but now need to.

Doesn't seem to be a quicktime option / preference.

Where in FCP ?

I know. But that is still not marking the clips captured in Final Cut.
They are still showing up in the various Capture Scratch folders simply as
Driving 3-65. I am looking to have them marked as Driving 3-65.mov.

I have folders full of such clips as well, but cannot remember how to mark them
as such.

It is done through Final Cut I believe. Not through Finder. There is a way
to log clips with the .mov extension.

Does anybody know what that is ?

Because when I move those same clips onto my PC it throws up its hands
and doesn't know what it's looking at.< </div>

Ah, tough for even elitists to read minds. This would have been helpful to know in the beginning.

FCP will not put .mov on captured clips because, while they are QT files, they are FCP-specific. The workaround we have been forced to employ is an easy to use Applescript in the Finder Scrips folder called ADD TO FILE NAME. Do this carefully on a few test files.

I believe there is a way to tell your PC to add the file extension after the copying is finished, too, but it's easier to add it to the Mac side beforethey get copied. I understand basic Applescripting. I'd need am IT Propfeshnul to run a name changer in Winderz.

Too, you can download a simple Automator Action, like Change Extension. Then in Automator choose, File > Import Actions, point to this new file.

Then the fully constructed Automator workflow is quite simple: 2 steps. Like this:

Or, you can download a super simple app like R-Name.

It's got an option there, "Add Extension". Couldn't be easier to use. I use this app quite a bit.
