How to Change Pointer Color

I Googled the subject and found all kinds of question about how to change the color of the black OS X pointer cursor but did not see a success story. I looked at, but did not insttall, the mightymouse-20b1.dmg. It does too much and may or may not change the color. Too bad we no longer have the good old ResEdit.

I have one program I use with a black background and the OS X black pointer gets lost in the background.

Has anyone figured out how to change the pointer's color?

Even with ResEdit, creating a color cursor was not easy, IIRC. The 'CURS' resource defined black and white cursors only. Sure, you could hack the pointer to make it look like, say, a sword... but it had to be a black and white sword. I don't think color cursors were possible until towards the end of pre-X systems, except via an extension.

As to how to do this on Mac OS X, I have no idea, but to solve your problem, you could try this:
